"The students loved it. They had tools that supported the writing process at their fingertips along with immediate and specific feedback. They gained confidence as they saw improvement in their writing. Their improvement transferred to other classes and their PSSA scores. We were just blown away to see how much students had improved."

SPMS :: Success Stories
Our clients' success stories are as varied as their districts, but the results are unanimous: whether SPMS is used for benchmarking, diagnostic purposes, formative assessments or to monitor student progress, SPMS provides a powerful tool for measuring student performance in core academic areas.
Formative Assessments & Student Progress Monitoring Systems®
Mississippi Department of Education
The Mississippi Department of Education engaged Vantage Learning to create the Mississippi Student Progress Monitoring System™ (MS-SPMS). MS-SPMS offers web-delivered and paper-based assessments that are customizable and fully aligned to the Mississippi Curriculum Frameworks in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. The comprehensive reports available via the program provide detailed information at the state, region, district, school, classroom and student levels. Reviewing this immediate feedback, educators can quickly determine if students have mastered key academic objectives or if remediation is needed, and can plan instruction accordingly. Since SPMS became operational in Fall 2004, more than two-thirds of the districts throughout the state have registered to use MS-SPMS.

Benchmarking & Diagnostic Assessments
Hampton-Brown
Hampton-Brown engaged with Vantage Learning to develop Avenues e-Assessment™, the online version of the Avenues program, which is specifically designed for English Second Language (ESL) students. Avenues e-Assessment allows educators to evaluate the proficiency levels of these students in order to advance their understanding of the English language. Using Avenues e-Assessment, educators can print out exams, scan paper and pencil tests that students have taken and upload this information for immediate scoring and feedback on students' performance in the extensive reporting database. Avenues e-Assessment is geared to students in K-5.

Pleased with their joint venture on Avenues e-Assessment™, Hampton-Brown again teamed with Vantage Learning to develop High Point e-Assessment™, the online version of the High Point standards-based program. High Point is designed to motivate struggling readers and English learners, close gaps in language and literacy, and equip teachers with effective instruction. Using High Point e-Assessment, scanned data from machine-readable answer sheets is uploaded and scored, giving educators immediate access to a wealth of graphical reports containing information on students' progress at the individual, class, school and district levels. High Point e-Assessment is geared to students in grades 5-8.
